I have been a member of Great Lakes HFMA Chapter since 1995 - I think I am just starting to become "seasoned". At the beginning my involvement with HFMA I was primarily attending educational sessions until a few years ago when I joined the program committee. It was then that I learned what our chapter has to offer and the great opportunities it affords.
Leadership does take commitment both personally and professionally, but I can truly say over the years of working with the various leaders of our chapter, the reward to you is immeasurable. Why do it? The answer is in this year's national theme "Believe to Achieve". These individuals want to achieve something, maybe professional, maybe personal, doesn't matter, what matters is our chapter has an outstanding group of professionals that will support that growth and achievement. Greg Adams, FHFMA, 2011-2012 national chair chose this theme to support 3 key thoughts:
· Believe in the possibilities
· Believe in yourself
· Believe in each other
As I assume my presidency this year, I am honored for the opportunity to serve the Chapter. I look forward to a great year and challenge all of you to become a bit more involved. Yes, I know...how can we squeeze one more thing onto our plate? Start small, help on a committee - maybe it is sitting at the registration desk for one of our live sessions, or recommending a potential sponsor/vendor for our chapter, or calling on a co-worker to join, or introducing a webinar. No amount of volunteer effort is too small!
I want to recognize our past Chapter president, Shari Glynn, for all the time and effort she has given us this past year (and many more before that). Under Shari's leadership our chapter has flourished and won numerous awards (more to come on that). Thank you Shari for a great year!
I want to recognize our sponsors - thank you for your continued support of our chapter and educational efforts - it is because of you that we continue to offer economical educational opportunities!
And thank you to our membership and your employers for their financial support of your membership and participation. These are very challenging times - take advantage of what the chapter has to offer to you, I guarantee you will be become a better financial professional providing a great ROI for both you and your employer!
Here is to an outstanding year!
Sincerely,
